Janos Novak Photography

Let's proceed with the basic question - why do I take photographs after all?

Photography for me is art, a hobby, a form of meditation, a device of conveying moods, an exploration into the unknown, an exercise to see differently, a conscious effort not to just look but pay attention as well, and last but not least, a rather sleek way to escape this weird human affair called 'wordly existence' on a quasi-regular basis. Oh, and of course, sometimes an eternal struggle, too.

As far as my subject matter is concerned, I'm not the least interested in the so-called documentary style photography, neither do I care much about the 'veracity' of my images. After all, there's no such thing as objective reality, and as a matter of fact, I personally don't see the point in considering human sensory perception more real than dreams, fantasies and visions.

What intrigues me at most is the incidental, the ethereal, the serene, that tranquil yet mysterious moment when some volatile blend of time, space and light reveals a fleeting glimpse of another world beyond ours.

Escapist visual poetry, some may say.
